Gaur Purnima is the birth anniversary of Supreme personality of Godhead Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who appeared in 14th Century to deliver the fallen souls by chanting Hare Krishna Mahamantra . This year it is celebrated on 7th March 2023. Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu appeared on the full moon night of Phalgun month in Mayapur India about 600 years ago. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu spread the message of Lord Krishna – he suggested the easiest way to connect with the Lord is to chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra.

He taught that holy name of the Lord is the sound incarnation of the Lord and since the Lord is the absolute whole, there is no difference between His holy name and His transcendental form. Thus by chanting the holy name of the Lord one can directly associate with the Supreme Lord through sound vibration.
When Lord Chaitanya was born on day of lunar eclipse, the land was vibrant with sound of Hare Krishna Maha Mantra “Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare”
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was known as Nimai in his childhood. His beloved mother gave this name because the Lord was born under a Nimba tree in the courtyard of his father’s house. Thus, the Lord began to preach the importance of the Holy Name from an early age.
His mission was to preach the importance of chanting the holy names of the Lord in this age of Kali (quarrel). In this present age quarrel takes place even on small things,so the shastras have recommended for this age a common platform for realization, namely chanting the holy names of the Lord. People can hold meetings to glorify the Lord in their respective languages in melodious songs and if such performances are executed in an offenseless manner, it is certain that the participants will gradually attain spiritual perfection without having to undergo more rigorous methods. Such meetings can be organised by anyone irrespective of the caste and religion, the learned and the foolish, the rich and the poor, the Hindus and the Muslims, the Englishmen and the Indians. We all can hear the transcendental sound and cleanse the dust of material association from the mirror of our heart. To confirm the Lord’s mission, we all have to accept the holy name of the Lord as the common platform for the universal religion of mankind.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu associates were Nityananda prabhu,Gadadhara Pandit, Advaita Prabhu and Srila Srivasa Thakura . After accepting sannyasa order, his associates were especially asked to preach in Bengal with Srila Nityananda Prabhu. Six Goswami (Rupa Gosvami, Srivasa Goswami, Jiva goswami, Gopal bhatt goswami, Raghunath Dasa goswami, Raghunath bhatt goswami,Sanatana Goswami) were asked to go to Vrindavan to discover the forgotten places of Lord Krishna’s past times.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s teachings spread throughout the world, telling that only Krishna can bring peace to this world.Stay happy and chant with us Hare Krishna Mahamantra.
